What resonates with me is the one about praying for my friends destructive path and forgetting that I need to worry about my own.

Also sometimes I do not pray because I think ” Well, I already prayed about that and maybe God does not want me to bother him with this again, maybe he is tired of me repeating the same thing “

I have recently noticed a terrible habit. When a situation comes up that needs prayer, my immediate reaction is to say to myself that I need to have everyone pray about it, but never actually stop and pray. Not to say that I never pray about the situation..eventually. But I’m sure that there have been times when I have forgotten as well.

Once I became aware, I started noticing that I did it often. So now when the situation arises, I stop what I am doing immediately and pray instead of just saying to myself that the situation needs prayer.

At our office, there are always buts. “But I was never trained that way” “But I was only rude because the caller was rude to me” “But I didn’t realize that having no pulse was a bad thing”

Have you ever noticed how when it’s you giving the excuse it sounds completely reasonable but when you are on the receiving end it often sounds ridiculous? And we feel entitled to use exceptions as a coverup for our shortcomings and rebellions, but never would we want someone else to use them on us.

Exceptions seem like a pretty good tool for the devil to use in our Christian walk. We are so used to saying “but” in our daily lives; how easy it would be for that small word to separate us from God.

*Once the sermon slides are entered into Song Show Plus, they should not be edited, added to or rearranged in any way.
*If the preacher hands last minute changes to the secretary, he should buy her expensive gifts to make up for the stress.
*Guys who wear girlish colors should not be allowed to come up with color names to make themselves feel better. It’s not manly melon or faded red. It’s pink, wear it with pride!
*Younger people who think that the older folk have nothing to teach them should be sent off to a nursing home themselves.
*Anyone making negative comments about how the band sounded should be forced to do an interpretive dance the following Sunday.
*Preachers should never be allowed to dance.

Carol, thanks for coming to my defense but I was joking when I typo’d in my comment because there was a bug in the blog that was making the L disappear. So in a sense, I was the one being snarky. So it’s perfectly fine.
